Shows I tried, gave up on & a vague update (sylum at the end)
So, in case no one remembers, my DVR got fried (despite batter backup and TWO surge suppresors) during a power outage. So, I dug out my trusty old VCR. Took another month to find it's remote (why no, I've not unpacked everything from the 8yr ago move, let alone the 3 subsequent moves).

I have come to the conclusion VCRs are annoying. As such, I never get around to that convinient one-click to watch, pause, tape while watching.

So, I now, officially, give up! All I am going to make an effort to view is Castle, Criminal Minds and the Mentalist. After last weeks Mentalist, I am a little hesitant, too.

Which leave sme giving up all CSI's, House (I'll catch on USA later), NCIS (watch when I can), Numb3rs. All go bye bye.

I tired Supernatural, guys. I really did. The 2 I sort of followed, I got lost in. Maybe if I say from ep1, it would make more sense. I'll keep reading the crossover fics, though.

Maybe if I get my DVR fixed (iffy, at best), a new DVr (at $300, not likely) or a real internet connection that allows DL at a real limit per day, I will get back into them. Most DL are at least 350mg, and I have a daily DL limit of 350mg PER DAY. And they are failry arbitary on the hourly time. If I go over, they lock up my account for 24hrs. No warning, they just do. At that point, it's quicker for me to get on my dial up connection to get email. For this, I pay $90 a month!! I HATE hughesNet. Right now, that hate goes towards the wifi peole who promised to be in out here by summer, then by early fal, now, the emails bounce. Oh, any my utter loathing of Time Warner right now, too. Spring we were promised by summer. I will dump all my satellite in a heartbeat, if they'd just haul their asses out here (no, they are doing new line IN AMISH AREAS! fucktards).

So, maybe I am just a little angry and depressed right now. :-/ I am SO looking forward to my 2.5 months off work. Even if it means penny pinching, more than I do now. Re-evaluate some things. Because, I have no time for rp even a silly old alliegator right now. and that makes me sad. Makes me sadder to think about having to drop it totally.
Forget writing.

tardis' in disguise?
Anyone ever notice how much a port a potty from a distance looks like a TARDIS?

Church has their 120yr Birthday tomorrow. Hay rides, bouncy house, singing, and some rocky-chirstian-group in the evening. Sunday AM, church service followed by a carry-in dinner.

I have to work all weekeknd, because work "will be busy". Everyone else can get a day off, but I have to fall on my face to get 4 hours off! *gggrrrrrrr*

Phelps A Thon - Westboro Baptist at it again/still
This is shareable. Share away.

more info about those Westboro Baptist Church/phelps ...jerks. I think this is a lovely response. I like the idea of turning the hate into a productive discussion about homosexuality. I hope to donate something to them.

http://www.phelps-a-thon.com/northcentral.html

North Central High School Phelps-A-Thon

Fred Phelps’ clan is coming to North Central High School in Indianapolis!  The “God Hates Fags
” Westboro Baptist Church is planning to picket the school’s production of The Laramie Project, a play about Matthew Shepard, the young man who was killed in an anti-gay hate-crime.

The Westboro Baptist Church wrote on their website, “Matt is STILL in hell, deal with it.”  Fred Phelps and his group travel all across the United States spreading their message of hate and lies about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

However, when the Phelps group comes to North Central High School to protest, they will actually be raising money for LGBT equality at the school!

We are hosting a Phelps-A-Thon to counter Fred Phelps’ hateful message.  For every minute the “God Hates Fags” clan is protesting, we will be collecting donations that will be split between the North Central High School Gay/Straight Alliance and Indiana Youth Group (IYG). (Pledge Online) “IYG provides a safe place, a confidential environment, youth development programs and support services which foster personal strength and wellness among self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people. IYG advocates on their behalf in schools, on the streets, and in the community.”

The Phelps clan will be protesting at the high school from 2:55 PM to 3:30 PM on September 24th.  You can pledge any amount you chose, whether it be $0.25, $0.50, $1, or even $2 for every minute they protest. You can even pledge a flat rate for the entire time the group will be demonstrating. (Pledge Online- http://www.emailmeform.com/fid.php?formid=420989

The point of this Phelps-A-Thon is two fold.  First, we are using Phelps’ own hateful message to raise funds for a good cause, one that will help counter the lies that are being spread about LGBT people.  Second, After the event, we will send Phelps a thank you card, telling him how much money he raised for LGBT equality. This will certainly upset the group and it is possible that they will stop protesting in order to stop our fundraising.

During a three month trek across the United States in an effort to promote LGBT equality, Chris Mason, Founder of Phelps-A-Thon.com, stopped in Topeka, Kansas to visit the Westboro Baptist Church.  He sat down for a conversation with Shirley Phelps, the daughter of Fred Phelps and new leader of the group to get a better understanding of why the groups feels the need to spread hate.

On the “God Hates Fags” website, Phelps has this to say about the upcoming protest at the school:

North Central High School - Matt is STILL in hell, deal w/it 1801 E 86th St Check out our new song on the subject of God's wrath sung to "I'm Bad", called "God Is Mad". Here are some of the lyrics: "Your God is mad; Gonna tell you right. You show your filth, in broad daylight. We're telling you,'Bout how God feels You won't obey. You're so self-willed Come On, Come On, Listen to us, All Right. He's given you the chance to see His blessings on this whole country. We're telling you, Just
shut your mouth He knows your sin, What you're about. Well you say his wrath has limits, but you know that's so untrue. My friends you ain't seen nothin'! Just wait till God gets through. Because you're bad, you're bad, come on(Bad, bad, really, really bad) And God is mad, he's mad, you know it (Mad, mad - really, really mad) You've sinned so bad, Admit it - you know it (Bad, bad - really, really bad) And the whole world has to answer to God Just to tell you once again, God's mad!" And to show His wrath, God has killed Matthew Sheperd. God has also let you dummies put the Antichrist in the Whitehouse. So, stand by for more wrath. Praise God! AMEN!”

We can turn these hateful words into positive change.

Thank you.

Message from Chris Mason, Founder of Phelps-A-Thon.com:

It is unfortunate that WBC has decided to picket North Central High school. However, there are some positives to be found. The protest is opening up dialogue about the discrimination faced by LGBT people in society and how to combat that homophobia. The school's production of The Laramie Project is receiving more publicity and more people will see the important play. Thousands of dollars are being raised to benefit LGBT youth at NCHS and throughout the state of Indiana.

I wish we could completely ignore their hateful message and place them on a deserted island. But the truth of the matter is that students at NCHS and folks in the community will see and hear their awful message. Many students at NCHS and citizens of Indianapolis are hurt by WBC's message and are looking for a way to respond. I believe it is right to give the students and community members a positive, productive way to respond to the hateful messages of the Westboro Baptist Church. That is exactly what the Phelps-A-Thon does.

Below are some of the comments left by folks who have pledged to the NCHS Phelps-A-Thon.

Why is it when I go out and about with nothing more than a camera am I followed, distrusted and approached as if I am a criminal?

I went to a local shopping centre today with my wife and son, as normal I took my camera with me, my son went with my wife down a set of escalators I stood at the top waiting for him to come up and took the lens cap off to take his picture, as soon as I did I was approached by a "jobsworth" and told I could not take any pictures in the centre, I ask why and was told I could be a threat, I told him to go away, he did, I still took the shot.

my face update
Hey! Update on my face. It's still there ;-) Got a lovely swollen right side. Feels like the worstest sinus headache *evar!* Oh, and the only obvious bruise is right under my eye, looks like I missed with the lipstick. Should try to get a picture. Little scratch under my glasses nose piece. Still need to get the glasses straightened, but wanted some swelling to go don a bit, it hurts to place the glasses where they belong. All in all, I was pretty dam lucky. No concusion, no major trauma. Just some deep bruising and swelling. And this damn headache whenever I bend over.*I need to clean, damnit!* Oh, and can't eat crunchy or big stuff. Jaw hurts. Now, that's all :-))

my face hurts, and a happy birthday :-)
First, I love semagic - happy birthday to copperbadge and kate_mct

Second, and has nothing to do with birthdays. I am going for a lie down in a bit. Slipped in the walkin at work, and fell on my face into some containers. Right side of my face is swollen up, feels almost like I have a sinus infection. Think I might be pretty colors tomorrow. If I am still sore tomorrow, one of my work mates will take me to the care center.

exciment, I can do without it
Shadow-kitty had a bad reaction this AM to her flea collar. A little siezure, throwing up. Zenaru got the collar off her, by the time I got home she was better, then we gave her a rinse off bath-she was SO GOOD! Almost back to normal now. I was so worried, 2 weeks to the day Fly died, very bad timing. Zenaru was beside himself!
I wasoff on my montly driving job for the Amish ladies. I now have to go back out to the store for stuff. May just go to the dollar store, all call it even. I can make him some corn chips, I have stick margarine. The problem is, Aldi's is 15miles away, Save a Lot is 7miles from work. (one way).

off line
Just an FYI, probably for the next couple of weeks I will be off line completely. HopefullyI will still be able to access email, but that's about it.

And, worse comes to worse, I can use a dialup connection. But, to give you an idea, last night I tried to access my journals. My f-list took : on LJ, 7mins, on IJ 4mins to load. That's without pictures on them, just text. Not only is dialup slow, my phone lines here are so noisey, I frequently get tossed off every 25mins, at least. I laugh at email connection. *sigh*

If anyone wants to connact me, just leave a meassge, or email me privately at snirt at snirt dot us

he's gone
Fly kind of made the decision for us (husband, really). He started breathing very rough about noonish, and went down from there. About 2:30, I went to get Pastor, husband wanted to talk to her - he really values her opinion and friendship, even though there is hardly a religous bone in his body - because he was nearly unresponsive. She came over, talked to us for a few, then went back to get the 2 men working on her porch (umm... the neigbor across the street's truck rolled backwards into it last saturday). They carried Fly out to the car for us, I don't know how we would have done it otherwise. Pastor followed us to the vet, and the vet came out to the car. That was the best thing, as Fly is *terrified* of car rides and buildings. He was abandoned at the shelter 3 times as a pup, so does not have good experiences with cars. Fly's blood flow had already slowed, the vet was having problems finding a good vein. He did, and Fly just fell asleep. So peacefully.
So, he's gone. I am so glad we got Sam last year.
I am sure Zingo and Red Dwarf and Bear met him at the bridge, and are even now teaching how to be a puppy, something he never had a chance to be on this earth.

Thanks to everyone for their notes. It is very appriciated.

decisions
I have a decision to make. he doggie in my icon? That's Fly the Moose. He's about 15yrs old (we are not completely sure). He's been in pain, manageable, but has bad hip dysplasia. Friday, he stopped eating much, and got diharreha. saturday, he never pooped at all. I gave him hairball meds, he pooped this AM, but is still panting bad and miserable.
I talked to the lady at our old vets, they will see him today. I am waiting to see if he will eat here before I make a decicion. I have $93 to get me through the next weeks. if I blow off cable and internet bills, praying they won't come due until after the 28th, that is.
To get examined, is $38. To put him down is $48. They will then send him to a place that does cremation, and I pay them on pick up of his remains. Whenever that will be. So, i can pay that out.
My delemna, is to get him examined, and take the chance he will get better, or just get him put down? They will let us be with him - they did Zingo and took care of Red Dwarf when he died at home. So I know it's not this horrible shot that makes them scream, he literally goes to sleep. Peacefully, unlike his last 3 nights of rest. And, he's old. Especially for a big dog (he's down to about 100lbs, 29" tall, 36" long). I think he's had a good life, especially the last 4 years of being "ours" (when Bill and Ann gave him to us when they moved). He wwent from puppy-mill and abandined 3 times, to a home with the hupe's and 6 other dogs, to being a mostly-only dog all that time. Except for Bear for awhile and Sam and the kitten (who adores him).
And, selfishly, I work the next 6 days straight. If I am putting him down, I want it to be on my day off.
Please, tell me I am doing the right thing, not just taking the easy way out.

John Barrowman quote
Made me think of how he was turned down for the role of Will on Will & Grace for not being Gay Enough.

GLAAD nominees look back

Gay-themed classics that inspired new talent

By ROBERT HOFLER

It's a big year for milestones as the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation's Media Awards turn 20 and the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots arrives June 28. Variety asked several 2009 GLAAD nominees to mark these occasions by citing gay-themed works from the past 40 years, and beyond, that inspired them and may have influenced their current plays, TV shows and films.

While "Milk's" Cohen admires Crystal's gay portrayal in "Soap," John Barrowman, star of the GLAAD-nommed "Torchwood," found the Jodie character to be an anti-role model. "(He) was pretty camp, as I recall, and I thought, well, I'm not like that guy, because I was into cars and sports and stuff. And that turned out to be one of my career goals: to defy the stereotype of gay, to show that other types of gay exist."

work is working out
New job? Started part time on Tuesday? Manager today asked me how I liked it. Told him I loved it. Always different stuff to do. I *know* Sunday after christmas- march15 we will be closed. I can Plan. I am not dependent on gas prices and crazy schedules.

So, he says "how would you like to go fill time?"

*blink* ummmm....yeah? YEAH! 35-40hrs a weekish? I'll get a raise after 30days, and after ...90 days???I CAN GET HEALTH INSURANCE!!!!!!

My god...I've not been to the doctor in 4 years. If it would cover that, and some of John's meds...*thud* It's thorugh AFLAC, which is a good company. Fanny, the Amish lady who is the lead has a version ofauto-immune hepatitis. It covered her hospital, and allher meds and blood tests every 3months. Something like 100% on thehospital and really low on the meds and tests.

OMG. I know with the off time/closed time, it will basically be after reopening next year, but something to look forward to.

Means things might start to look up soon.

I am completely exhausted, though.

It's called a BLIZZARD!!!!
They warned us. Said we'd get about 6" of snow friday AM-saturday. Currently, I have 12" on my car in the back yard. It's only 8am.

Took my guy to work yesterday AM, and it was nice, cooler than recently, but dry. So, I get some lumber, then went and offered to take Gideon to his meetings and chiropractor appointment. They said, snow starting at 11am in Columbus. Figured I had time. Until at least noon over here.
Silly me.
Started Pellet Snowing at 9:30 while he was at a sawmill chatting. We went to Berlin (Ohio still). A little more snow, driving more cautiously. Go to chiro. He gets out 1" and 30mins later! EEEEPPPPPSSS! I made him walk down his drive. Was not getting stuck again. I made it home, in the other valley, on the center of the slope, and 4miles about 40mins later - an I don't think, other than passing the furniture truck coming down the hill I was trying to go up, I was ever tracking in a straight line.

I cancelled the rest of my drives. Unfortunately, the Amish lady up the road died over night, and one of my cancels was to take someone to the viewing. So sad, she was only 37, with 5 children. All those children were hard-fought for. She's been very sick with cancer (yeah, there is a lot of that in the Amish community) off and on for a few years. Not a surprise (moire a relief, like with my mom). but still sad.

Later afternoon yesterday with 5" on the ground, and I don't shovel the drive - I park by the road - some idiot in a ford f-150 comes blasting up the drive. Looses control turning around. It's the floor guys for the guy rehabbing next door. They can't raise him, so went to leave, skidding down the drive. Steve comes running out to catch them, so they decide to BACK UP the drive. Dude, if you can not control the Down in Forward, what makes you think you can control the Up in Reverse? I don't give a crap if you DO have four wheel drive.
I thought they were going to either hit the propane tank, or go right over the edge and into the living room here.
Jerks. Nice jerks. but jerks.

Anyway, the cat wakes me this AM at 4:15am slapping at the bedroom door. Then, she came over and played with my foot. I got up. Went to the bathroom, am reading a story on my PDA (I am incorrigible) and the room lights up like crazy. I thought a transformer blew. Untill I heard the thunder. For about 90mins, we had a heck of a storm! Snow sleeting down.
Snow seems to be taking a break right now. Looks like more within the hour. Weather guy says it should all end by 7pm.
I don't have to be anywhere until Monday late morning/early afternoon.
In a couple days, it will all start to melt, and my (still wet) basement will be wetter.
Oh, I never heard the mail truck today. And have not seen any of the mailmen at the PO. So, wild guess, no mail today. Not like it matters to me, all my significant mail goes to the PO.
I had to Giggle, the Sherrif is "obtaining" 4wd vehicles as they need them for emergencies. He shows up at my door, asking about mine. He wanted my "old" van - the Dodge. I told him he could have it, but it was in Millersburg at the shop. He rolled his eyes. And went to the PO to talk to one of the guys in the apartments there.
High winds, snow and poor visibility. Makes for a blizzard. Well, technically, you don;t need that much snow for a blizzard.

Anyone who doesn't know, I live 1.5hrs from Columbus, ohio/Cleveland,ohio and Pittsburg, PA. Draw a line to all 3, I am in the center. Ohio River valley, Appalachian Water Shed foothills.
